Position Overview
The Ultrasonographer performs high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and strong patient interaction skills to ensure a positive experience. The Ultrasonographer adheres to ARHS policies, regulatory standards, and ethical guidelines while collaborating with healthcare professionals to achieve top-tier patient outcomes in quality, safety, and experience.
Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts from $33.59 per hour.

- Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience - range is $33.59 per hour or more. Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is non-exempt and includes shift differentials for qualified shifts.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality ultrasound exams following physician orders and imaging protocols.
- Ensure patient safety through proper positioning and adherence to imaging standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare teams to provide timely diagnostic imaging.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
- Provide patient education regarding procedures and ensure a positive experience.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education
- Graduate of an AMA-accredited health science education program.
Experience
- Clinical imaging experience from an AMA-accredited sonography program.
Required Registration/License/Certification
- ARDMS registered or registry-eligible.
- New graduates must obtain registry within one year of hire; on-the-job-trained sonographers must complete registry within two years.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association at the time of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions.
- Proficiency in delivering safe and effective patient care within licensure scope.
- Knowledge of imaging protocols and patient care standards.
- Exceptional customer service and attention to detail.
Physical Demands
- Continuous standing and walking for ≥ 8 hours per shift.
- Speaking, reading, and writing for ≥ 8 hours per day.
- Exposure to vibration and cramped spaces > 1 hour per day.
- Frequent patient mobilization > 4 hours per day.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling ≥ 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, turning, and reaching.
- Frequent fine motor skill use, hand dexterity, and close eye work.
- Frequent exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
- Frequent exposure to acoustic energy.
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to bloodborne diseases.
- Exposure to electrical, mechanical, and power equipment hazards.
- Exposure to unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries, and uneven terrain.
- Must handle emergency or crisis situations.
- Irregular hours required, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- On-call required.
