JOB DESCRIPTION: TRAUMA SERVICES PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT
COORDINATOR/SBIRT COORDINATOR
DIVISION: NURSING
RESPONSIBLE TO: TRAUMA PROGRAM ASSISTANT NURSE MANAGER (ANM)
PURPOSE: The Trauma Services Performance Improvement Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Director. This position will develop, implement, and manage the Performance Improvement program for Aultman Trauma Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio, BSN recommended.
- Current certified in CPR, ACLS, PALS
- Currently certified TNCC or will obtain within one year of hire.
- Must complete Screening and Brief Intervention Course within 1 month of hire.
- Three years clinical experience in an acute care setting.
- Refined communication skills both written and oral.
- Must be able to cope with deadlines imposed on specific duties.
- Refined organizational skills with a well-developed style of diplomacy, assertiveness, and a tolerance for ambiguity.
- Able to use critical thinking skills, problem solving abilities and an understanding of the trauma system.
- Able to function independently, with autonomy, displaying personal integrity and always maintaining confidentiality.
- Able to work with all levels of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Refined negotiation skills and conflict resolution skills.
- Functioning in the role as patient/family advocacy intervening as needs indicate.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIVLITIES (About 75% PI, 25% Clinical)
- Develop, implement, and coordinate PI initiatives for the Trauma Center.
- Monitor sentinel events, deaths, adherence to protocols, LOS, variances.
- Gather patient information and prepare concise written documentation for Peer Review meetings.
- Function as a trauma clinical resource regarding standards of care and trauma protocols.
- Assist in the development of trauma protocols.
- Assist in trauma educational needs.
- Ensure compliance of ETOH screening and intervention
- Identify areas of trauma research and participate in the research process.
- Function as a liaison between Trauma Services and all specialty services caring for the trauma patient.
- Represent Trauma Services in a variety of meetings as assigned.
