SUMMARY OF POSITION
The primary purpose of the Exercise Physiologist is to provide input in formulating activity levels appropriate for each participant to safely enhance the physical capacity and emotional quality of life for patients with a wide variety of medical issues, particularly those with cardiac and pulmonary problems. The Exercise Physiologist provides patient education with emphasis on exercise and assists with risk factor modification and promotes healthy lifestyle changes.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
- Supervises and monitors patient progress, goals, and treatment plans throughout their participation in the rehabilitation program
- Evaluates patient’s clinical status and reports applicable information to other healthcare providers
- Conducts functional capacity test and writes the exercise prescriptions
- Assists with cardiopulmonary stress tests
- Formulates an education plan and provides patient education with an emphasis on exercise
- Keeps abreast of recent advances in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab through continuing education courses, current literature, and professional meetings
- Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
- Demonstrates, creates, and fosters a work environment that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Aultman Health Foundation and provides care that consistently complies with the Aultman Corporate Service Standards and high reliability culture.
- Manages time wisely and seeks assignments when duties are completed.
- Represents the hospital by volunteering for community activities which may include participation at community events, activities or on local boards.
- Seeks opportunities for involvement and participates in hospital-based committees.
- Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
|
|
- Graduate of a state approved program with bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology
- Current BLS certification
- Clinical Exercise Physiology (ACSM) or Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional (AACVPR) certification preferred.
- Subject to background check and fingerprinting

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Up to 8-hour shifts; weekdays; overtime based on a 40-hour work week
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day
- Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours
- Hazardous Exposure Category – I – tasks that involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ADDENDUM
O = Occasionally = 0- 33% of the work shift or 0- 32 repetitions.
F = Frequently = 34-66% of the work shift or 32-200+ repetitions.
C = Constantly = 67-100% of the work shift or 200+ repetitions.
