Description: New Tech Global Staffing is currently seeking a Tax Specialist to cover a maternity leave for a client with operations across 52 U.S. locations. This is a contract opportunity with potential for extension.
Pay: $55–$59/hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week
Summary:
The Tax Specialist will support direct and indirect tax compliance and analysis, including income, franchise, sales, use, gross receipts, B&O, and property tax. This role reports to the Corporate Controller and works closely with accounting and cross-functional teams to improve systems and mitigate exposure.
Responsibilities:
Sales & Use Tax
- Monitor and interpret sales/use tax laws across multiple states
- Ensure proper tax application on invoices and maintain exemption documentation
- Maintain and update taxability matrices in ERP systems
- Prepare and file 200+ monthly sales/use tax returns
- Apply eligible credits and prepare journal entries and reconciliations
- Manage audits and respond to tax authorities
- Maintain sales tax registrations
- Collaborate with two other sales tax professionals
Property Tax
- Coordinate with external consultants for property tax compliance
- Review and ensure timely filing of renditions and payments
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations
- Manage property tax calendar
Income/Franchise Tax
- Coordinate with third-party providers for tax compliance and provision
- Assist with audits and respond to federal/state notices
- Provide financial data for state reports and franchise tax calculations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or Business Administration
- CPA preferred but not required
- 3–5 years of federal and multi-state tax experience (Big Four or large corporate tax department preferred)
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740
- Experience with FAS (Fixed Asset Software) and Altyrex (Tax Provision Software)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to research tax laws and communicate findings clearly
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
