Job Summary:
The Surgery Environment Tech reports directly to the Operations Supervisor. Performs a variety of cleaning duties in all areas of the perioperative environment and sterile processing areas to provide a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors, and personnel. Performs other duties as described. Will maintain equipment in clean, working condition; demonstrate knowledge of proper use of chemicals and other supplies. Will be responsible for moving furniture and equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers/shampooers, housekeeping carts, etc., and be exposed to various types of chemicals. Appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

- Follow established protocols to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. (ie. AORN)
- Follow established protocols for cleaning and disinfecting all areas of perioperative services (eg, patient and visitor waiting areas, patient bays, ORs, storage areas, utility rooms, hallways, bathrooms, locker rooms, lounges, and meeting rooms).
- Follow established protocols for cleaning and disinfecting all sterile processing areas (eg, decontamination rooms, clean workrooms, clean/sterile storage rooms, hallways, and utility rooms).
- Follow established protocols for routine, between-case environmental cleaning, and terminal cleaning of the procedure rooms and the surgical services department.
- Follow established protocols for preparing, using, and disposing of cleaning chemicals.
- Follow established protocols for routine, enhanced environmental cleaning, and terminal cleaning of the sterile processing areas.
- Clean and disinfect assigned areas including furnishings and equipment.
- Clean, disinfect and stock bathrooms in patient and public areas as assigned.
- Discard trash following facility specific protocols
- Required appropriate use of department’s communication app.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Experience:
- 1 year of environmental services experience in a perioperative setting preferred.
- Recent environmental services experience in an acute care setting preferred
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
