The embedded faculty member will play a vital role in clinical supervision and teaching, fostering the growth of nursing students. Funded by Forrest Health, this position offers faculty benefits from the University of Southern Mississippi. Overseeing up to four clinical groups, each with 8-10 students, the faculty member will provide mentorship and guidance in real-world healthcare environment, shaping the next generation of nurses. The faculty member’s role includes an understanding of the inner functions of a nursing program as they relate to curricula, practice arenas, evaluations, and outcomes. Faculty members facilitate students’ achievement of course objectives and prepare students to master skill sets that enable progression throughout the nursing program of study. Faculty members work closely with the course, clinical, and program coordinators to ensure the standards and quality of the nursing curricula are met and maintained.
Performance Expectations:
-Mentor/advise nursing students
-Supervise students in the clinical setting
-Follow hospital polices/procedures.
-Follow the policies and procedures of the University, College of Nursing and Health Professions and the School of Professional Nursing Practice.
-Faculty members facilitate students’ achievement of course objectives and prepare students to master skill sets that enable progression throughout the nursing program of study.
-Adhere to clinical schedules.
-Communicate any concerns or issues to the clinical, and/or program coordinator including school and facility director.
-Communicate course, clinical, and/or program requirements to students.
-Maintain availability to students
-Collaborate with the course coordinator to plan, implement, and evaluate each assigned course to maintain quality and effectiveness.
-Direct and/or indirect clinical supervision of students enrolled in the nursing program of study.
-Attend scheduled meetings as related to course, clinical, program, school, college, and/or university.
-Participate in service opportunities on and off campus that impact the university, professional, and/or local communities.
-Participate in the shared governance of the university, college, and school through assorted opportunities for engagement on campus.
-Review/discuss daily plans/care plans with students
-Clinical engagement and teaching
-Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program required.
Hold a Master of Science in Nursing Degree
Evidence of ten (10) continuing education units annually.
Complete all required clinical agency training such as orientation, electronic health records, HIPAA, medication administration etc.
Uphold the mission and values of Forrest Health and the University of Mississippi, the College of Nursing and Health Professions, and the School of Professional Nursing Practice.
Satisfy all clinical requirements of affiliated agencies including a criminal background check clearance.
Work Experience:
Competent practitioner of nursing with minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse (RN).
One (1) year of formal nursing instructional experience in a higher degree program preferred.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS
