Job Summary:
The Master Teacher is responsible for supporting and coaching teachers to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction with fidelity. This includes organizing and curating the curriculum, facilitating professional development, analyzing student data, and providing regular, targeted instructional coaching. The Master Teacher plays a key leadership role in shaping the academic program and ensuring alignment between curriculum, instruction, and student outcomes. Travel to school campuses in Sacramento and San Bernardino may be required; travel expenses will be covered by Fortune School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Leadership & Curriculum Management
- Curate and maintain a comprehensive, standards-aligned curriculum and pacing guide.Lead the development and implementation of unit plans, ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment.House all instructional materials, guides, and resources in Google Classroom for easy access and consistent use.Oversee the preparation and delivery of printed curriculum materials to school sites.
- Coaching & Professional Development
- Provide weekly classroom observations and coaching sessions for each teacher on your caseload.Deliver actionable feedback grounded in instructional best practices and student data.Conduct daily lesson preparation meetings to strengthen instructional delivery.Facilitate unit unpacking meetings and lead teachers in planning based on pre-assessment data.Design and lead high-impact, data-informed professional development sessions (virtual and in-person).Meet weekly with instructional leadership coaches for ongoing professional growth.
- Data-Driven Instruction
- Analyze formative and summative assessment data to identify trends and inform instructional decisions.Facilitate grade-level data meetings following bi-weekly or weekly assessments.Guide teachers in using data to adjust instruction, target student misconceptions, and drive academic growth.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate closely with school leaders, other Master Teachers, and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure aligned instructional practices across all campuses.Maintain open, timely communication with teachers, school leadership, and curriculum teams.Send weekly newsletters with important updates, reminders, and instructional tips.Manage calendars, schedule observations, and send out meeting invites and agendas at least one week in advance.Share all pre-work and meeting materials 48–72 hours prior to meetings.Respond to all communication (email, text) within 24 hours.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of improving student achievement, preferably in historically underserved communities.
- Strong knowledge of standards-based curriculum, instructional best practices, and effective coaching techniques.
- Experience leading professional development and managing instructional materials.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid California Teaching Credential - Multiple Subject credential required.
- Appropriate certification for teaching English Language Learners
- 3+ years working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred.
Salary based on Teacher Salary Schedule
