The Insurance Specialist reports to the Director of Enterprise Solution and coordinates daily administrative activities, insurance activities, responsible for the incident reporting system, the contract database, contractual reviews and creation of reports. The Insurance Specialist will gather information, review and revise data/listings, etc. to provide to the insurance companies accurate information needed for new additions, changes, applications, and renewals.

Coordinating the BHS Insurance Programs Specialist by:
- Coordinating with and provides some system administration support of the electronic Corporate Contract system.
- Responsible for the daily administration and support of the Incident Reporting System.
- Assist with contractual review and providing appropriate language.
- Management of insurance policies, endorsement and claims.
- Maintaining processes for acceptance of corporate legal documents (summons, complaints, subpoenas, court orders).
- Disseminating information throughout the organization/department as needed.
- Researching problems and providing resolution in a timely manner.
- Facilitating timely responses to inquiries or concerns, and also ensuring satisfactory problem resolution.
Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:
- Promoting the establishment and maintenance of meaningful relationships with BHS associates, leadership, and providers to ultimately enhance interdepartmental/facility effectiveness.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships, with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrates the ability to work at/with other Beacon locations as needed.
- Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in clinical, risk management or insurance of not less than 3 years is required. Insurance license is required and can be obtained within 120 days of employment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft computer applications (i.e., email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases). Must be detail oriented and able to gather data and information from various sources.
- Demonstrates the expertise and ability to administer and utilize various software programs.

- Demonstrates the leadership skills necessary to elicit cooperation and support from others. Also demonstrates ability to work closely with other associates in a team-based environment.

- Demonstrates the ability to handle stressful, serious, difficult, emotional situations with providers, associates, patients, family, or other individuals. Training or experience in conflict management or de-escalation techniques is helpful.

Working Conditions
- Works in an office environment with consideration of some remote work.
- Must be able to be effective in a fast-paced, quality-focused, multi-priority environment that frequently deals with stressful situations and deadlines.
- May need to work varying hours as determined by department or organizational needs.
- Ability to travel as needed.
