In order to continually provide our members with the highest level of service, Affinity FCU is seeking a Credit Risk Manager to join our team.
The Credit Risk Manager will be part of the finance team, working closely with both the accounting and treasury teams, as well as loan origination teams, loan servicing and member care (collections) to manage the efficient growth of our loan portfolio. The candidate will manage the credit union’s credit risk exposure for Affinity’s loan and investment portfolios through the development and maintenance of credit measurements, risk assessments and on-going monitoring of each lending product. Based upon these ongoing reviews, the Credit Risk Manager will recommend both areas of growth and relevant credit risk mitigation strategies to mitigate portfolio credit risks. In this key role, the Credit Risk Manager serves as an independent and objective opinion for all credit risk related items that affect Affinity’s lending activities.
The starting salary range for a new hire in this role is $105k to $125k. The wage/salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several qualifying factors, including but not limited to: years of relevant experience, years of industry experience, education, etc.
This position is HYBRID, with onsite work required 50% of the time at our corporate headquarters in Basking Ridge, NJ.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish and monitor risk appetite statement for products and the portfolio
- Manage concentrations, product and portfolio risk limits
- Inform underwriting, credit approval and product pricing
- Organize data to enhance credit and product reviews including review of external data sources used
- Monitor credit performance – monthly summary reporting, periodic deep dives on certain asset classes, establish feedback loop to underwriting
- Perform stress testing – both standalone credit stresses and part of budgeting process
- Enhance management of CECL calculations
- Improve portfolio efficiency, both risk and profitability – loan restructuring, sales, hedges, securitization and changes in origination targets to diversify portfolio
- Management and Board reporting – portfolio analysis, roll rate reports and vintage loss curves, etc.
- Member of Credit Quality Committee
- Accumulates, analyzes and reports to Credit Quality Committee on a monthly basis
- Makes monthly credit risk summary report to ALCO
- Interaction with NCUA regulators, internal and external auditors
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field required. Minimum 5 years of financial services experience – banking or credit union experience is required. Master’s degree and professional designations (CFA, CPA, CTP), beneficial but not required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience with lending, risk and accounting functions
- Excellent financial analysis skills, including the ability to successfully execute on projects with minimal guidance to draw appropriate conclusions from large amounts of financial data
- Excellent verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to present to executive management
- In-depth understanding of banking/credit union industry financial analysis
- Must have very strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
