- Job Summary
Performs a variety of clerical duties in support of the Cardiopulmonary department. These duties include, but are not limited to, typing correspondence and reports, scheduling appointments, filing, taking phone messages, and preparing patient charges.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Should have secretarial background and experience with office equipment and personal computers. Must have typing speed of at least 30 wpm and transcription capabilities.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Proficiency in office procedures such as work processing, filing, writing, answering phones and conveying information. Must posses good organizational and communication skills. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.

Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patients with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
