Job Description/Summary
The Youth Coordinator will lead and expand the Youth Time to Shine / Youth Tobacco Action Group (YT2S/YTAG) initiative under the Prevention Coalition of Monmouth County (PCMC), a program of Preferred Behavioral Health Group (PBHG). This role is responsible for engaging youth in leadership, advocacy, and prevention education, while fostering personal development, resilience, and community involvement.
Responsibilities
Youth Engagement & Program Delivery
- Recruit, mentor, and support a diverse group of middle and high school youth from across Monmouth County.
- Facilitate monthly youth group meetings, workshops, and leadership development sessions.
- Implement evidence-based prevention curricula and life skills training for the youth group, and other Prevention First program(s) as needed.
- Coordinate enrichment activities such as field trips, college visits, community service projects, and family engagement events.
Community Outreach & Collaboration
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools, community centers, and youth-serving organizations.
- Represent the program at community events, school functions, and coalition meetings.
- Collaborate with coalition members and stakeholders to promote youth involvement and prevention messaging.
Event Planning & Campaign Support
- Support youth-led advocacy projects and public awareness campaigns.
- Coordinate logistics for events, including transportation, materials, and volunteer engagement.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and service hours.
- Collect and report data for program evaluation, including surveys and focus groups.
- Complete grant reporting and documentation.
Competencies
- Strong facilitation, mentoring, and youth engagement skills.
- Knowledge of substance use prevention and positive youth development.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid NJ driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or willingness to obtain.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
- Experience with community organizing or coalition work.
- Familiarity with Monmouth County communities and youth populations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, education, psychology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of experience working with youth in a community, school, or prevention setting.
