Fleet Data Centers is a next-generation data center company purpose-built to meet the demands of today's high-performance workloads—AI, cloud, and hyperscale. As a startup backed by leading investors, we are building the infrastructure of the future from the ground up. Our vision is bold, our team is growing, and we are looking for visionary leaders ready to scale with us.
Position Overview:
The Vice President of Data Center Physical Security will lead security designs for both standard facilities designed and deployed by Fleet and engage in customer collaboration for deployments for cloud service and AI data centers (DCs). The scope includes design and deployment, as well as life-cycle management and operations of proactive, safe, secure, resilient, cost-effective security solutions. The Vice President of Data Center Physical Security will lead the design team to collaborate across design disciplines including architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems to drive a comprehensive total data center solution that meets all security performance goals. The organization leader will staff and guide subject matter experts, provide technical guidance, have a direct impact on the design of DC facilities, solve large-scale implementation issues, and be responsible for developing and communicating security design requirements to internal and external project partners. System design will be focused on security incident prevention through a combination of innovative system deployment and includes all staffing and operations of the security systems across Fleet global DCs. Both system design and staffing models will need to reflect regional and site-specific security parameters that address nuances of each deployment, while balancing a global standard for DC security.
The Data Center security systems organization leader will be responsible for staffing models that fulfill critical performance metrics for secure and safe DC design and operations at a global scale. Effective operations strategies including analysis of benefits and tradeoffs for in-house and third-party staffing will be evaluated and managed over the lifecycle of the global fleet of DCs. Frequent interaction with end-customers and collaboration with design, construction, and operations teams, as well as Executive Leadership engagement are all required for effective leadership in this role. These security solutions will be the basis for consultative reviews and collaboration with our customers in cloud services, government, and artificial intelligence data center deployments. The leader and staff subject matter experts should have a working knowledge of physical security principles and how that relates to practical application and real-world implementation of processes and measures.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the collaborative security system design with other internal and external customers to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk, and benefits of designs, and facilitate design discussions.Establish and lead design efforts (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for Datacenter projects.Define processes and staff key personnel to translate designs through deployment and long-term operations with full life-cycle management. This is to include long-term planning and system upgrades, as appropriate, to track industry standards and make use of innovative technology advancements in sub-systems and components.Responsible for directing a global team to develop technical direction, performance standards as they pertain to Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for physical security elements.Oversee security design scope of work for design Request for Proposal (RFPs). Work collaboratively with Procurement, Program Management, Construction, Operations, and all contributors to successful vendor management and contract execution to defined scopes of work related to physical security solutions. Direct effective team review for the work of physical security engineering design consultants, test and commissioning services, and all relevant deployment oversight. Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously on a regional and global basis.Establish cost effective staffing models for global physical security operations. Work in close concert with Fleet procurement teams for defined scopes of work and contract at a global scale.Work closely with peers and senior management to define performance metrics for global security operations for the fleet of data centers, but also for individuals operating the system for both in-house and third-party desired business outcomes.Lead and direct incident response activities for physical security breaches, natural disasters, and other emergencies, developing mitigation strategies to prevent future occurrences. Collaborate with law enforcement and other external agencies as required during investigations or critical events.
