About the Project:
The Kigali Centralized Sewerage System Project is a flagship infrastructure initiative aimed at transforming Kigali’s urban sanitation network through the construction of advanced sewer lines, pumping stations, and a modern wastewater treatment plant. The project will significantly enhance public health, environmental quality, and sustainable water management in Rwanda’s capital city.
Position Overview:
CRCEG is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Instrumentation Engineer to lead the specification, installation, calibration, and commissioning of instrumentation systems across the wastewater treatment plant and sewerage network. The role involves working closely with process, electrical, and automation teams to ensure accurate monitoring and control of all treatment processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, specify, and oversee the installation of field instrumentation and sensors including flow meters, level transmitters, pressure sensors, pH and turbidity meters, and analyzers.
- Ensure all instrumentation systems are integrated with the SCADA and PLC systems for effective process control.
- Review instrumentation drawings, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and technical specifications to ensure alignment with process requirements.
- Lead instrumentation calibration, testing, and commissioning in coordination with contractors and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with local and international instrumentation standards (e.g., ISA, IEC, ISO).
- Coordinate with electrical and control system engineers to ensure full functional integration.
- Prepare instrumentation data sheets, inspection test plans, O&M manuals, and system documentation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation and control issues during construction and commissioning phases.
- Support training of plant operators and maintenance staff on instrumentation systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, or Control Engineering, or related field.
- 10 years of overall experience in instrumentation engineering, with at least 8 years in water or wastewater treatment projects.
- Proven experience in working with instrumentation systems for process automation in treatment plants or industrial facilities.
- Hands-on knowledge of SCADA, PLC, and DCS integration.
- Familiarity with field communication protocols (e.g., HART, Modbus, Profibus).
- Strong understanding of industrial safety and instrumentation calibration standards.
- Experience with international EPC or infrastructure projects is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
