What you"ll do
At NCheng, our Senior Accountants play a leadership role in our day-to-day accounting processes. They oversee key tasks managed by Staff Accountants and ensure that client deliverables—such as monthly financial statements and grant reports—are accurate and delivered on time. This role also involves higher-level financial analysis, regular client interaction, and partial ownership of engagements, contributing to the high standards of service we provide
Location: Hybrid – Financial District (3 days onsite per week)
Key Responsibilities
- Review Staff Accountants' work for accuracy, ensuring proper coding, reconciliations, and compliance with firm/client standards.
- Serve as a key point of contact for one or more clients, handling moderate to complex inquiries, budgeting updates, and operational issues.
- Prepare or review monthly and quarterly financial statements, interpret data, and present findings to clients or managers.
- Manage the close process, including complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Recommend workflow enhancements or internal controls to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
- Coach Staff Accountants on technical issues, best practices, and professional development.
- If relevant, oversee grant accounting, voucher submissions, and annual or periodic reports to funding agencies.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- CPA license or progress toward CPA (or similar certification) is a plus.
- 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Prior experience with month-end closings, financial reporting, and using data to identify trends, investigate variances, and advise on solutions.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) and accounting software skills.
- Deep understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this role will range from $82,000 - $95,000.00.
Pursuant to the pay transparency laws of New York State and other local ordinances within the state including (but not limited to) New York City, the salary range displayed is for the New York markets. The salary offered will be determined by several factors that may include but are not limited to relevant experience, certifications, and skillset. NCheng LLP reserves the right to make changes to the salary range based on business needs.
