POSITION SUMMARY
The Advocacy Coordinator works within the PPGNY External Affairs Department to support building community power around reproductive health, rights, and justice and to provide tools for New Yorkers to empower themselves and elevate their own voices. The Advocacy Coordinator is responsible for supporting the advocacy work of the External Affairs department, including the Organizing, Political, Government Relations & Policy, and Communications teams. They work to support the infrastructure for advocacy work, including technical skills such as EveryAction as Affiliate Data Manager (ADM) and Salesforce for time tracking. The Advocacy Coordinator’s work will include a hybrid of in-person and virtual engagement, including but not limited to facilitating or supporting trainings, meetings, and community actions. They plan the logistics and carry out in-person events, such as canvasses, tabling, and volunteer-facing events, mostly within Region 1. They also attend most Board meetings, including committee meetings, and take notes and support necessary administrative functions for the Board and the External Affairs department. The position is located within New York City and involves travel within New York State, primarily in NYC, about 20% of the time.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Public Affairs Campaigns Work (50%) – Work with the Organizing team to support advocacy events, communications, trainings, and actions to ensure campaigns are moving forward at the federal, state, local level, with a particular localized concentration on Region 1 organizing work. The Advocacy Coordinator works with the Organizing team and the External Affairs Campaigns Manager to support deliverables for core programs (BOP, Raiz, HCE, PPGen Action) as well as rapid response events.
Team Project Support (25%) – Provide project-based support to the Political Affairs and Government Relations & Policy teams on large campaigns, events, and projects. Projects include Day of Action, NYS & NYC budget campaigns, PPGNYAF candidate interviews, and elected briefings.
Administrative and Technical Support (15%) – Support the External Affairs department, PPGNY Action Fund Board, PPGNY Votes PAC Board with administrative and technical tasks, including managing Salesforce lobbying reporting and time-tracking, support on Board meetings, and other tasks as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED
Previous experience supporting teams with administrative work
Previous experience advocating on behalf of reproductive health, rights, and justice

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- This job operates in a professional office environment/clinical office setting. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions in a health center environment.
- Requires sitting for long periods of time. Periodic standing, walking, bending. Requires lifting of up to 15 pounds. Visual acuity sufficient to perform frequent work on a computer screen and review printed reports and other materials. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Requires the ability to hear and to communicate orally with others.
