The Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) Neurology Clinic seeks a dedicated Medical Secretary to serve as the administrative backbone of our medical office. In this essential role, you will provide comprehensive clerical support while ensuring seamless patient care coordination. Your responsibilities will encompass maintaining accurate medical records, managing multi-line telephone systems, coordinating appointments and referrals across various departments, including laboratory, radiology, and specialty clinics, performing precise data entry, and optimizing patient flow to enhance the overall healthcare experience.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Administrative Support: Answer phones, screen calls, maintain patient files, process mail and forms, handle medical records requests, and provide general clerical support, including typing and photocopying
- Patient Care Coordination: Schedule appointments and referrals, greet patients, register and update patient information, prepare encounter forms, and assist with patient checkout and follow-up scheduling
- Financial Management: Collect patient co-pays and outstanding balances, maintain balance sheets, and potentially handle deposit responsibilities
- Medical Documentation: File clinical notes and test results, and ensure accurate completion of encounter data and medical records.
