Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital’s (NVRH) Central Sterile Reprocessing (CSR) department is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated CSR Technician I to join our essential healthcare support team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong time management abilities, and excellent communication skills. Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive reprocessing procedures, including decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, preparation, packaging, storage, and documentation of all medical instruments and devices according to ANSI/AAMI Guidelines and hospital policy standards.
- Manage complex instrument reprocessing, including inspection, disassembly, reassembly, and testing of surgical instruments, medical devices, and specialized equipment, including rigid, semi-flexible, and flexible scopes throughout the hospital network
- Perform advanced sterilization operations utilizing steam, chemical, and other sterilization methods while interpreting sterilization printouts, protein tests, high-level disinfection results, and biological indicators to ensure compliance with FDA manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFU)
- Maintain infection control standards through proper aseptic techniques, hand hygiene protocols, PPE utilization, and universal precautions while managing departmental inventory and performing linen de-linting processes for operating room and clinic use
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent with basic computer proficiency and understanding of fundamental computer operations
- Previous experience in surgical services or central sterile processing preferred but not required, with a willingness to learn sterile versus non-sterile product differentiation.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work effectively under pressure, and physical capability to handle medical equipment and perform detailed manual tasks
- Must obtain Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification within 12–18 months of employment
