DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The Manager of Central Services manages services and departments in providing patient care equipment and instrument reprocessing function including collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high level disinfection and distrubution policies across Berkshire Health Systems. Serves as the subject matter expert and resource for product reprocessing needs. In collaboration with the peri-operative director, develops and ensures compliance with departmental budget. Works collaboratively with all BHS departments and units to ensure safe and effective instrument and equipment avaiablity. Models excellence in patient experience and safety. With the leadership of the Peri-operative director developes and evaluates service considering future trends and anticipated changes in the industry. The Manager supports the mission of the health system and accountable to the Director of Peri-operative Services.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:
-
Current Management experience preferred.

Progressive experience in Central Service and/or operating room including at least two years in a leadership position within an area providing same or similar service.

Experience working with and directing others in a fair, consisted and respectful manner.

5 years in an acute care sterile processing department.

1+ years experience preparing for CMS or Joint Commission survey preferred.

Education and Training:

Bachelor’s degree in Business or related healthcare field required.

License, Certification & Registration:
-
IAHCSMM/CBSPD - C.R.C.S.T. from IAHCSMM or CBSPD required.
