DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
-
An Endoscopy Certified Technologist is a paraprofessional qualified by a didactic and clinical training to provide services during endoscopy procedures under the supervision and responsibility of the Endoscopy Director and RN circulatory nurses or his/her designee. As part of the Endoscopy team, he/she is responsible for the technical aspects of the patient`s Endoscopy intervention. The technologist and Circulating Nurse work as a team as the endoscopy patient`s advocate.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:
-
Knowledge and application of surgical aseptic technique required.

Education and Training:
-
Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Surgical Technologist program

License, Certification & Registration:
-
Certification in Basic Life Support required.

CST - Certified Surgical Technologist

Other Requirements:
-
Ability to anticipate and meet the needs of the Endoscopy Team required.
-
Ability to meet the needs of the patients for safety, comfort, and reassurance required.
-
Rotation on-call system participation required.
-
Must be willing to cross-train to Crane Center & North County Endoscopy.

Must be willing to function in other capacities needed for the department.

Capable of rapid and accurate movements of body and hands in response to visual and audio stimuli.

Able to perform a variety of duties in the Endoscopy Unit under supervision of the Registered Nurse and handle a variety of equipment.
