About the Opportunity
The Senior Maintenance Generalist performs general preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment and grounds. Proficient in several trade skills such as carpentry, door frame repair, plumbing, electrical, painting, door frame repair, heating and cooling.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct and perform all tasks in a professional and considerate manner.
• Be a positive role model to the youth that we serve.
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance on facility buildings, grounds, and equipment as directed by Facilities Manager, including cleaning, restoring, repairing, or replacing broken/inoperative appliances or components.
- Maintains safe working environment by complying with safety and procedural standards, rules, and regulations (OSHA)
- Performs routine carpentry, painting, patch, and plastering of building surfaces and equipment
- Performs routine plumbing work such as unstopping toilets and drains, replacing faucets, repairing leaks, wax rings, valves, washers and dryers install.
- Performs routine electrical work such as replacing light bulbs, outlets, switches, etc.
- Maintains building accessibility and appearance by picking up trash; removing ice and snow from walkways and addressing trip hazards.
- Minor vehicle repairs and documentation.
- Maintains inventory as directed by the Facilities Manager by making routine pick-ups/purchases at local stores using VHBG credit card.
- Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair.
- Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings, broken windows, door frame replacement and installed systems to include: plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop, and HVAC.
- Inspects new installation for compliance with building codes and safety regulations. Maintains lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing bulbs and lamps.
- Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
- Performs all other related work as assigned by supervisor.
- On call as required by Facilities Manager.
VHBG will provide you with a sign on bonus in the gross amount of $3,000.00 subject to any deductions permitted under law. $1,500 sign on bonus on second paycheck, and $1,500 Retention Bonus on payroll that includes their 1-year anniversary. If your employment with VHBG is ended for any reason prior to six months of employment, the first installment will be recouped in your final paycheck.
Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); 7+ years prior grounds and facility experience
In addition, the candidate must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License with driving record in good standing, must be able to successfully clear background checks associated with job, and must successfully complete in-house training.
