Peri-Operative Blood Management Technologist
Location: Memorial Hospital of South Bend
Reports to: Director of Perfusion or designee

Join our expert surgical team and play a key role in supporting life-saving procedures as a Peri-Operative Blood Management Technologist. In this dynamic role, you’ll provide critical support during open heart surgeries, trauma procedures, and orthopedic operations by managing cell saver equipment and assisting with peri-operative blood management.
What You’ll Do

Support perfusionists during open-heart surgeries and maintain accurate intraoperative records.

Operate cell saver equipment for vascular, orthopedic, trauma, and cardiac procedures.

Assist with inventory management and equipment readiness (IABPs, transducers, etc.).

Handle PRP processing for orthopedic and vascular cases, as needed.

Clean and maintain all relevant equipment; ensure accurate documentation.

Respond to emergency or on-call needs within the required response time (30 minutes).

Support daily/weekly controls for the HMS system and maintain compliance documentation.

Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth and safe procedural flow.
What You Bring
-
At least 1 year of college education or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.

BLS certification (must be maintained).

Peri-Operative Blood Management Technologist certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year).

Exceptional judgment, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm under pressure.

Comfort with medical equipment, data entry systems, and safety protocols.

Strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with patients and team members.
