Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides both direct and indirect patient care services, ensuring the psychosocial, physical, and restorative needs of each patient are met. The RN’s decisions and actions with patients and families are made ethically, practicing compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and unique attributes of each individual. The RN is responsible for effective communication, ethical decision-making, and maintaining patient safety, all while ensuring the highest standards of care are upheld. Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts at $30.50/hour.

- Compensation: Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. The range starts at $30.50 /hour (depending on experience). Benefits begin on the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is non-exempt.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed nursing personnel in delivering patient care, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organized patient care environment.
- Effectively document and communicate patient care information to team members.
- Demonstrate compassion and respect for the dignity and individuality of patients.
- Follow department policies, procedures, and ethical standards in all areas of practice.
- Participate in maintaining quality patient outcomes and safety.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers, physicians, leadership, and volunteers to create a positive and healthy work environment.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a registered nurse is preferred but not required.
- Previous healthcare experience in an acute or clinic setting is preferred.
- One-year of prior experience in a similar role with a similar scope is preferred.
Required Registration/License/Certification:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at the time of hire.
- Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to work within the scope of nursing practice as outlined by licensure and hospital policies.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
- Competency in delivering safe and effective patient care in line with hospital policies.
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, families, staff, and physicians.
- Familiarity with data entry and the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, position, and transfer patients up to and greater than 50 pounds.
- Requires manual dexterity and mobility, including bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, or walking may be required.
- Near acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.
Working Conditions:
- Regular exposure to the risk of blood-borne diseases.
- Frequently exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical equipment, chemicals, and bodily fluids.
- Subject to irregular hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations.
- Continuous standing and walking for periods greater than 8 hours per shift.
- May be required to sit for extended periods greater than 4 hours.
