Job Summary:
Performs patient examinations and related activities; performs patient exams in accordance with established protocols, demonstrates knowledge of digital environment; reviews images prior to sending and archiving to PACS and for submission to radiologists for interpretation, maintains patient records; assures the correct patient is being imaged in accordance to hospital protocol of checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing examination, and patient's clinical history is complete; completes associated documentation, performs QA/QC on equipment, as needed. Stocks exam rooms with basic supplies, starts IV's and/or administer contrast, as needed, maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques and provides clean environment within examination area. Provide student technologists with the basic procedural concepts within responsible modality. Share emergency call, as required. Demonstrates appropriate computer skills. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Demonstrates knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice. Reports to the assigned Radiology Supervisor.
Performance Expectations:
- Demonstrates the ability to assist with procedures in the Endoscopy Lab.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of radiation safety practices and appropriate protective safety devices, as applicable.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform the duties required in Pre-Evaluation Room.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of PACS equipment and operation.
- Demonstrates ability to use Diagnostic Room 1 - 8 to produce quality radiographs for interpretation by Radiologists.
- Demonstrates ability to use portable radiographic equipment to produce quality portable radiographs.
- Demonstrates appropriate patient care skills, such as body mechanics, familiarity with code cart, IV maintenance, and maintaining a safe environment.
- Demonstrates ability to assist with procedures in the OR with the use of proper equipment.
- Demonstrates ability to perform other diagnostic modalities as required; i.e. CT
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of an approved AMA school of radiologic technology required.
Work Experience:
One year experience in diagnostic radiology preferred. One year experience in CT Imaging preferred.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist for State of MS
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
- Basic Life Support (Within 30 Days of Employment Required)
- Certified/Registered in additional diagnostic imaging specialty (MRI, CT, Ultrasound, etc.) (Within 30 Days of Employment Preferred)
