Job Summary:
Attends Epic certification classes, completes required testing/projects, and maintains Epic certifications as required/assigned.
Participates in activities associated with the creation, documentation, testing and support of the hospital’s reporting and extract needs to maintain a quality electronic medical record (EMR). Works closely with end-users, administration and vendors to understand business processes, elicit reporting requirements and ensure proper testing/validation. Assists in on-going reporting support of the EMR, including but not limited to new installs, software updates, software upgrades, approved projects and other assigned tasks via a helpdesk ticketing system. Reviews and acts on upgrade release notes and user reported requests for implementing approved and prioritized assignments. Handles assignments in various stages of completion while not losing sight of details and deadlines.
Participates in meetings involving build analysts/developers, managers, and operational stakeholders to gather needed information for assignments. Documents work efforts associated with every assignment in a timely manner. Communicates with clinical/non-clinical staff to further understand needs and relay status updates related to their request. Follows all policies and procedures while performing job duties. Communicates effectively (both orally and written) with other business intelligence analysts/developers, Epic analysts, end users and managers.
Prioritizes assignments and completes work based on associated timelines while making management aware of any known obstacles. Performs other job duties as assigned.
Communicates and interacts with staff, patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Performance Expectations:
- Obtains and maintains multiple Epic certifications required for support of an assigned application area
- Researchs, builds and introduces new functionality to application area users
- Resolves issues as reported by application area users
- Documents actions taken on assigned helpdesk tickets with clear and descriptive notes
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Associates Degree in an Information Technology related field or equivalent business experience is required. Experience using relational databases (T-SQL) and proficiency in report development is preferred.
Work Experience:
Work experience is required, preferably in data analysis and report development. Experience in a healthcare environment is a plus.
Certification/Licensure is required based on timeframe below
- Epic Cogito certification within 60 days of Employment
- Epic Caboodle Data Model certification within 100 days of employment
- Epic Clarity Data Model certification within 140 days of employment
- Access, Revenue, or Clinical Data Model certification (depending on assigned area) within 180 days of employment
