Position Overview
The Microbiology Supervisor oversees microbiology lab operations, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and safe practices. This role performs and directs testing, manages personnel, maintains inventory, reviews procedures, and provides leadership in quality assurance. The supervisor supports patient care by delivering timely and reliable diagnostic results and upholding operational efficiency across the department.
Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range begins at $36.28 per hour.

- Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience – range is $36.28 per hour or more. Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is a non-exempt position with shift differential.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform and supervise microbiological testing and result reporting.
- Ensure accuracy, validity, and regulatory compliance in lab processes.
- Manage departmental inventory and equipment maintenance.
- Oversee staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
- Review and update procedure manuals and safety documentation.
- Collaborate with leadership on quality assurance and process improvement initiatives.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education
- Medical Technologist Certification or equivalent.
- Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
Experience
Required Registration/License/Certification
- Must meet federal (CLIA '88) requirements for high complexity testing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required at time of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in microbiology procedures, safety standards, and lab information systems.
- Effective communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and LIS software.
- Ability to manage priorities, mentor staff, and ensure quality patient results.
