About the role
- Inspects coated material for defects and conformance to WAM visual specifications by performing the following duties.
What you"ll do
- Visually examines and feels surface of rubber coated, adhesive, topcoat, and pretreat/primer of material to detect defects such as margin issues, scratches, bubbles, and other blemishes.
- Records all defects and necessary information on hourly and defect logs.
- Communicates with Coating Line Operators for any issues with the material.
- Cuts material samples at beginning and ending of each master coil.
- Assists in line setup including responsibilities of back flush, material changeovers, and assurance to Job Sheet/SMP.
- Assists in finished coil removal and startup of new coils.
- Obtains labels for finished master coils from Final Inspector.
- Labels finished coils by listing footage, material grade, and date.
- Assists in start up, shut down, and changeover of coating line.
- Cleans tools, equipment, machines, and work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Knowledge of basic computer and keyboard use. Ability to use measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to work any continuous or fixed shift schedule including any day of the calendar week as required for operation of the position and mandatory overtime as implemented by management.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear, and/or smell. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
