Director of Talent Development & Engagement (Hybrid)
Our client, an established San Diego-based company, is hiring a senior HR leader to lead company-wide development, engagement, and inclusion efforts. This position supports a large employee population and plays a key role in shaping how people grow and succeed at the company.
This is not a branding role or a communications function. It's about designing practical strategies to grow talent, strengthen leadership, support inclusion goals, and maintain engagement in a complex, regulated business.
What You'll Be Doing
- Learning & Development
- Run leadership and professional development efforts across all levels, including senior executives.
- Oversee training strategies, needs assessments, and tools to help employees and managers build skills aligned with business goals.
- Lead succession planning efforts and prepare materials for senior leadership and board use.
- Employee Engagement
- Own the company’s formal engagement process, including survey rollout, reporting, and support for follow-up action planning.
- Help leaders better understand what drives employee satisfaction and retention—and how to act on it.
- Work with internal teams to participate in external engagement benchmarking when needed.
- Inclusion & Compliance
- Ensure federal and state compliance filings are accurate and submitted on time (EEO-1, VETS4212, AAP, etc.).
- Work with business leaders to set and implement annual inclusion goals based on internal priorities and metrics.
- Report on outcomes and continue to evolve inclusion programming across the organization.
- Talent Strategy
- Lead the full lifecycle of talent review across business units.
- Identify high-potential employees and work with executives on succession strategies.
- Maintain talent data and drive clarity on readiness, risks, and gaps in leadership pipelines.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor’s degree required; must be in Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- 12+ years in HR with a focus on talent development, engagement, and inclusion.
- 7+ years leading teams or functions within HR.
- Experience with enterprise-wide talent processes and compliance requirements.
- Strong data and reporting skills; able to turn metrics into action.
- Must live in Southern California or be willing to relocate.
Bonus potential 25% based on personal and company performance.
Additional benefits include LTIP, pension, and 401k match (up to 4%).
Hybrid work environment with flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week.
