The April Parker Foundation is dedicated to empowering historically underserved BIPOC communities across Orange and Los Angeles Counties. Through culturally relevant programs, we uplift individuals, families, veterans, and small businesses to strengthen our community. As we expand, we're looking for a hands-on HR Manager to oversee daily human resources operations with a focus on benefits administration and supporting employees in an on-site capacity.
About the Role
As the Staff Accountant, you will play a vital role in managing day-to-day accounting functions and maintaining the financial integrity of the organization. Reporting to the CFO, you will handle key responsibilities such as general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, reporting, and assisting with financial processes related to grants and programs. Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of entries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts.
- Monitor and track grant-related expenses, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
- Assist in preparing and analyzing budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Help prepare documents for audits, reviews, and tax filings.
- Collaborate with project teams to track budgets, expenses, and variances.
- Maintain compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or grant-funded environment.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and MS Excel (formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis).
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with grant tracking and reporting.
- Familiarity with financial audits and compliance requirements for nonprofits.
- CPA or pursuit of CPA certification is a plus.
