Position Summary:
The role of the APP is to provide initial care and treatment to patients with physician supervision and in accordance with established regulations, privileges, and protocols, the practice of the Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner includes health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases for patients of all ages.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Treat patients of Hospital and its designated sites in a diligent, knowledgeable and skillful manner in accordance with currently acceptable standards of practice in his/her professional specialty, applicable state and federal laws and regulations, and JCAHO standards.
• Consult with Psychiatrist and/or other Hospital medical staff concerning matters beyond or outside the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse’s professional ability.
• Provide Behavioral Health Services, and Medication-Assisted Treatment to outpatients with the scope of practice and as indicated by the needs of the practice.
• Prescribe medications within the scope of practice in a Primary Care setting.
• Participate in the task of ongoing patient management including but not limited to medication management, schedule management, calling pharmacies, staffing, and quality management activities.
• Perform and dictate history and physicals, dictate discharge summaries, service plans, progress notes, medication informed consent and other necessary forms of patient care documentation, and provide consult support services within the scope of the Behavioral Health service.
• Participate in ongoing clinical peer supervisions.
• Assist in the training and education of students, nurses, and paramedical personnel as requested by Hospital in matters within Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse’s professional specialty.
• Perform the duties specified herein in Hospital or at other designated sites provided by the Hospital.
• Shall comply with all policies, rules and regulations of the Hospital, which are applicable to his/her duties.
• Stay current and comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Education:
Completion of an accredited Physician's Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Program (APP).
Experience:
As required for Physician’s Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Certifications.
Licensure/Certification:
Certification in BLS, ACLS, current Certification by the Kentucky State Board of Medical Licensure and in good standing with the KBN.
