BASIC FUNCTION: The Circulating/Scrub Registered Nurse provides care, treatment, counseling, and health education to patients in the intraoperative phase.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors patient’s physiologic and emotional status in the operative environment; provides continuous patient surveillance for early recognition and immediate emergency treatment of medical or surgical complications.
- Communicates with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, & other members of the health care team.
- Assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment, inventory, and sterilization.
- Assesses the operating room for equipment function, readiness, & supply availability.
- Arranges supplies & instruments, keeps accurate counts, passes instruments & sterile supplies, applies dressings, helps to prepare & preserve specimens, operates the sterilizer, & other operating room equipment.
- Assists the Circulating RN in assessing operating room for equipment function, readiness, supply availability, & ensures the needs of the operating team are met.
- Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Licensed in the state of Colorado as a Registered Nurse.
- A temporary permit issued by the Board of Nursing will be accepted until a permanent license is received if awaiting reciprocity.
- Must have current BLS card upon hire and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.
- ACLS and PALS certification is required within 6 months of initial employment and must maintain current certification status throughout GRHD employment.
- Completion of the Surgical Technologist Orientation via on the job training.
- One year of professional nursing experience scrubbing or circulating in an operating room patient care setting preferred.

- $30.50 - $44.91 Dependent on experience may vary outside this range
- Additional $2.00 - $4.00 an hour for additional weekend and night shifts
- Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience
