National Jewish Health is seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Respiratory Fit Specialist to support the Personal Respiratory Protection Program (PRPP). This role delivers respirator fit testing, training and education for healthcare and industry clients while helping organizations meet respiratory protection requirements. As part of the Employee Health and Safety team, the Respiratory Fit Specialist plays an important role in supporting respiratory protection programs while delivering exceptional service to healthcare and industry partners. This position includes up to 20% local travel to client sites throughout the community.
Position Summary
Provides technical support to the Personal Respiratory Protection Program (PRPP), Employee Health and Safety Department. Performs quantitative and qualitative respirator fit testing, training and education to internal as well as external customers. Assists with administrative duties to include local travel to service new and existing clients.
Essential Duties
- Performs quantitative and qualitative respirator fit testing, training and education per OSHA 29CFR1910.134/139.
- Assists the Coordinator with promoting the PRPP qualitative respirator fit program to local health care and other industry organizations. This includes education, training and fit testing of disposable respirators for those employees at risk for TB and other environmental and occupational exposures in the workplace.
- Travels locally to perform respirator fits on new and existing clients.
- Records all fit test and medical clearance records in a database to assure adequate record keeping.
- Cleans and maintains respirators and fit testing equipment.
- Develop training and educational handouts, PowerPoint Presentations.
- Performs general administrative duties including: answering phone calls, ordering supplies, filing of forms and scheduling and all billing of clients.
- Serves as liaison between external clients and ancillary departments to schedule and coordinate fit testing services in collaboration with the medical surveillance staff. Troubleshoots internal and external issues and provides timely, accurate information to the client, including leadership as needed.
- Cross trains to provide basic assistance to the medical surveillance program.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Allied Health, Occupational Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Medical Assisting, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 1 year of customer/patient service and administrative experience required. Experience in occupational health and safety preferred.
- Special Training, Certification or Licensure: Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to client sites required.
Salary Range: $25.04 - $33.11
