THE OPPORTUNITY
At J Street, the Community Director is the onsite business leader for the community and the primary point of accountability for team performance, resident experience, operational execution, and overall asset results. This roleis aboutmore than managing day-to-day operations. It is about leading people, protecting theasset, and creating consistent performance through clear expectations and strong follow-through.
As the leader of the onsite team, you will connect leasing, financial performance, service, maintenance coordination, and resident experience into one operatingplan—working closely with regional leadership and support partners to deliver results.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Lead the Team
• Supervise and lead the onsite team, including leasing and maintenance team members.
• Provide ongoing coaching, training, performance feedback, and clear expectations.
• Build a team culture aligned with J Street values, service standards, teamwork, and accountability.
Own the Business
• Prepare, manage, andmonitorthe operating budget for the property.
• Track rent collections, delinquencies, payment plans, invoices, and property-level spending.
• Review financial performance,identifyvariances, andtake action to improveresults.
•Maintainaccuratereporting, documentation, and property management system data.
Drive Revenue & Occupancy
• Lead leasing and retention strategies that support occupancy, revenue, and community performance.
• Support daily leasing activity, move-ins, move-outs, prospect follow-up, and renewal efforts.
• Analyze market comps and recommend pricing or concessions based on performance and market conditions.
Elevate the Resident Experience
• Set the standard for responsive, professional resident communication and service.
• Address resident concerns and complaints ina timely, fair, and professional manner.
• Support resident events and community-building efforts that strengthen engagement and retention.
Partner for Performance
• Conduct regular property inspections for cleanliness, curb appeal, safety, maintenance needs, and overall presentation.
• Partner with the maintenance team to supporttimelyapartment turns, work order completion, preventive maintenance, and propertyneeds.
• Communicate property performance, risks, opportunities, and action plans clearly to regional leadership and support teams.
• Ensure operationscomply withFair Housing, ADA requirements, applicable local ordinances, safety standards, and J Street policies.
WHAT YOU BRING
• High school diploma or equivalent required;Bachelor’sdegree preferred.
• 3+ years of property management or related multifamily experience; prior team leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of multifamily leasing, resident relations,financial management, and property operations.
• Ability to lead priorities, solve problems, and make sound business decisions in a fast-paced onsite environment.
•Proficiencyin Microsoft Office; experience with Yardi, OneSite, or similar property-management platforms preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
