TECHNICIAN, HIM DATA INTEGRITYPosition Summary: Responsible for reviewing, analyzing and maintaining the integrity of the EMPI and the integrity of all patient data stored in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). This position serves as front line support for the Health Information Management Department, clinical/non-clinical departments as well as supports the organization’s Health Information Exchange (HIE)and patient portal in relation to the EMPI. The HIM Data Integrity Technician uses established validation tools within multiple data sources to research and make a determination concerning potential duplicates; remediates duplicate medical record numbers (MRN), duplicate encounter numbers and works with the Patient Access and Clinical Areas to identify potential patient overlays and potential risks to patient safety; collaborates interdepartmentally to notify downstream systems/departments and supplemental software support staff of MRN changes. Associate will coordinate with the HIM Data Integrity Team for daily workflow and volume assessments for daily work needs. Maintains confidentiality with all protected health information (PHI) and HIPAA-related information. Associate lives the PVHMC values and follows the appropriate behaviors in performing all position accountabilities. May perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications: [Required] High School Diploma or equivalent. Three - five years in Health Information Management, or patient registration or billing experience in a health care facility. Solid computer skills utilizing Microsoft applications; ability to work in high volume/fast paced area efficiently with keen ability to multitask; strong customer service and communication skills; communicates clearly and concisely both orally and written and via telephone; strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate well with others and as a team and ability to work independently.
[Preferred Qualifications] Associate or Bachelor degree in Health Information Technology, Computer Science or Business. Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT) or have the ability to receive within six months of hire. Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or have the ability to receive within six months of hire. Knowledge of the medical record content and patient care flow; ability to analyze information and use problem-solving skills to determine an appropriate outcome; ability to make effective, timely decisions based upon sound judgment and data analytics, considering implications and consequences.
Salary range: $26.41 - $37.16 Salary will be commensurate with experience.
