Job Overview
The Manager or Director [depending on experience] of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a strategic individual contributor responsible for leading financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis across R3 Lithium. This role serves as the primary Finance partner to executive leadership, supporting decision-making through data-driven insights, scalable financial models, and investor-facing reporting. The Director collaborates cross-functionally with operations, commercial, HR, and IT teams, and plays a key role in aligning financial strategy with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
This role is accountable for leading core financial planning activities, supporting executive decision-making, and driving cross-functional alignment.
Planning, Forecasting & Reporting
Leads the development and execution of scalable financial planning processes.
·Lead development of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial models (e.g., Business Plan Model, Sente Model)
·Own monthly financial statement template reporting and PowerPoint creation/distribution
·Translate operating metrics into financial forecasts using best practices and scalable frameworks
·Support budget planning and departmental engagement
·Perform product-level cost analysis to support pricing, margin evaluation, and strategic decision-making; FP&A will lead initial aggregation while plant cost accountants focus on inventory valuation
Investor Relations & Executive Support
Supports external communications and strategic decision-making at the highest levels.
·Act as interim lead for investor relations until a dedicated resource is hired
·Respond to investor Q&A in collaboration with investor advisory firm
·Prepare and present financial insights to the Executive Leadership Team
·Engage in sales meetings to support feedstock contract analysis and pricing strategy
·Conduct quarterly reporting to investors
Strategic Analysis & Modeling
Provides financial modeling and analysis to inform business strategy and resource allocation.
·Perform ad hoc financial modeling and non-standard analysis to support business decisions
·Reconcile professional service expenses and support cost control initiatives
·Develop pricing models for feedstock procurement and material sales
·Analyze capital vs. operating expenses and cash position to inform strategic choices
·Support business case development and scenario planning to evaluate strategic options
System, Tools & Data Integration
Leverages technology and data platforms to improve planning accuracy and cross-functional visibility.
·Partner with IT to implement planning and forecasting tools integrated with accounting actuals
·Leverage BI platforms to synthesize data from operations, HR, and other functions. This position will be the finance representation on the Corporate Data Strategy initiative.
·Explore AI-driven analytics to benchmark competitors and uncover performance gaps
Cross-Functional Leadership
Leads collaborative financial initiatives across departments to promote transparency and alignment.
·Lead cross-functional financial projects with operations, commercial, and HR teams
·Collaborate on A&O reporting processes (with support from internal stakeholders)
·Promote financial literacy and transparency across departments
·Promote understanding of process manufacturing economics and cost structures across Finance and Operations.
Qualifications
This role requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and relevant experience to operate effectively in a fast-paced, capital-sensitive environment.
Education & Experience
This role requires a strong foundation of academic training and relevant professional experience to ensure credibility, judgment, and execution at scale.
·Bachelor’s degree(s) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
·7+ years of progressive FP&A experience, ideally in process manufacturing
·Experience supporting investor relations and board-level communications
·Exposure to capital planning, cost accounting, and strategic modeling
·Experience as an FP&A leader for a company or business unit
·Relevant work-related experience in building and/or improving FP&A processes in addition to running an FP&A organization.
Technical Skills
The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise with the tools, systems, and frameworks required to operate effectively in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
·Advanced Excel and financial modeling (including scenario planning and sensitivity analysis)
·Proficiency with planning systems (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, or similar)
·Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for cross-functional insights
·Ability to integrate planning tools with accounting systems for actuals vs. forecast tracking
·Comfort with AI-driven analytics and benchmarking tools
