Staff Accountant
About Ognomy
Ognomy Sleep is a Series A-stage virtual care company transforming how sleep apnea is diagnosed and treated. We operate across all 50 states and D.C., serving patients through a fully virtual, clinician-led care model that connects them from first consultation through therapy and ongoing management. We are driving clinical excellence and scalable digital health.
We are building a world-class finance and accounting function to support that growth, and are looking for a detail-oriented, coachable accountant to help keep our books accurate as we scale.
The Role:
We're looking for a Staff Accountant to join Ognomy's Finance & Accounting team and provide hands-on, day-to-day accounting support. Reporting directly to our Controller, you'll take ownership of transactional accounting and help maintain accuracy across Ognomy's multi-entity structure.
This is a great opportunity for an early-career accountant to be mentored directly by the Controller, build real ownership, and learn the ins and outs of accounting at a multi-entity healthcare company. You should be comfortable rolling up your sleeves, learning quickly, and taking direction well.
What you will do:
You're coachable and eager to learn. You'll be trained directly by the Controller and are excited to build your accounting skills.
Learn and work within Ognomy's chart of accounts, which reflects its multi-entity, captive PC (professional corporation) structure used to meet state healthcare regulatory requirements.
You're comfortable with data entry and detail-heavy, transactional accounting work.
You're collaborative and self-sufficient, able to take direction and also flag questions as they come up.
You're comfortable operating with some ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-moving startup environment.
Healthcare or multi-entity accounting experience is a nice-to-have, not a requirement. Curiosity and a willingness to learn the space matters more.
Own day-to-day transactional accounting, including data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Support the Controller with month-end close activities and help keep the books accurate and current.
Assist in maintaining and updating the company's financial model alongside the Controller and FP&A.
Help manage accounting across Ognomy's multiple related entities, including the intercompany cross-charges that occur between them.
Support the process of rolling up entity-level financials into consolidated company results.
Partner with the Controller on ad hoc reporting, vendor and expense questions, and other accounting requests as they come up.
Requirements
2-4 years of relevant accounting experience; internships and early full-time experience both welcome.
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Strong Excel skills and general comfort working with accounting software.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Collaborative and adaptable; comfortable with cross-functional engagement.
CPA-track status is a plus, but not required. A CPA is not required for this role.
Compensation
We offer a base range of $60,000 - $72,000 + equity. Specific bands will be confirmed during the interview process and benchmarked against the budget model.
Benefits
Flexible PTO
401k plan
Medical, dental, and vision benefits
100% remote work with flexible scheduling.
Collaborative, mission-driven team focused on accessibility and high-quality patient outcomes.
