Pharmacy Technician
FLSA: Non-exempt Reports to: Ph Manager
Full time 40 hours p/wk/day shift
Position Summary:
Georgia Mountains Health (GMH) is a Federally Qualified Health Care (FQHC), Primary Care facility that is mission driven to provide access to care by providing professional, compassionate and affordable, quality healthcare to our communities. We are seeking a dependable, customer-focused Retail Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team in Blue Ridge, GA. The Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to assist with prescription processing, medication preparation, inventory management, and exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to ensuring safe and efficient pharmacy operations while delivering outstanding patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Greet patients and provide courteous, professional customer service.
· Receive and process new prescriptions, refill requests, and prescription transfers.
· Accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy management system.
· Prepare, count, package, and label prescription medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
· Process insurance claims and assist patients with insurance-related questions or prescription benefits.
· Collect patient information and maintain accurate, confidential pharmacy records.
· Answer telephone calls and assist customers with prescription status, refill requests, and general pharmacy inquiries.
· Maintain inventory by ordering, receiving, stocking, rotating, and removing expired medications.
· Assist with inventory counts and controlled substance documentation in accordance with applicable regulations.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
· Operate the cash register and process customer transactions accurately.
· Support medication adherence programs, immunization workflow, and other pharmacy services as directed.
· Comply with all federal, state, and company policies regarding medication safety, patient privacy, and pharmacy operations.
· Collaborate effectively with pharmacists and other team members to ensure efficient workflow.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure as required by state law.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred .
- Previous retail pharmacy experience preferred .
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, prescription processing, and insurance billing.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with pharmacy software preferred.
