Safety Training Specialist -

Join the DiVal Safety Equipment in our Buffalo, New York headquarters as a member of our dynamic and fast paced Training Division. The focus of this position is to provide training to our internal and external clients in an effort to reduce injuries caused by chemicals, physical or biological substances and/or ergonomics in the work place. They audit the workplace for hazards, develop solutions to eliminate those hazards, communicate the solution to other employees and management on how to lessen the risk.
The Safety Training Specialist may ensure adherence to company health and safety rules and rules set forth by government entities such as the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA). They also may be responsible for training documentation and the development of emergency response plans.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform training, both onsite and offsite.Perform Respiratory Fit Testing.Industrial Hygiene – Technician level work (Sampling, Field Observations).Survey of work environments and job tasks as it pertains to safety.Participate in trade shows representing the Training Department. May include educational presentations at Trade or Industry shows. Perform onsite safety oversight.Perform additional duties that may arise and assigned by management.
Skills and Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal a MUST.Excellent communication skills, representing DiVal Safety in a professional and positive manner at all times.Conduct / Teach classes, ability to speak in front of groups and public speaking.Critical thinking skills in development of solutions/approaches to safety issues.Possess a positive attitude.Experience using:
- Computers, printers, mobile devices, and related office equipment.
- Windows 10, Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet Explorer or newer versions.Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Able to lift up to 30 lbs – 40lbs on a repetitive basis.High School Diploma/GED equivalent with Associates Degree.Relatable EH&S degrees, certifications and experience (preferred).Occasional overnight travel required.
