Donor Coordinator Phlebotomist
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Blood Bank Supervisor, the Donor Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of blood collection in accordance with AABB, FDA, and CAP standards. This role coordinates the operation of the Blood Donor Program while ensuring donor care, comfort, and retention, as well as the quality of blood products for recipients.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- Three or more years of phlebotomy experience required.
Licensure and/or Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Skills
- Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective phlebotomy skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Ability to solve problems and manage a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.
- Ability to exercise appropriate judgment in communications and interactions with patients, physicians, outside agencies, vendors, and fellow staff members.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
