SUMMARY: The physician will provide ophthalmology services for Alameda Health System, under employment from Alameda Health Medical Group. Services will be on-site at Highland Hospital, San Leandro Hospital and Alameda Hospital.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. The candidate will possess excellent medical skills. Area of subspecialty expertise required will depend on the needs of the Division. Surgical scope of the position will also be determined by the needs of the Division. Both the subspecialty requirement and surgical scope of the position will be conveyed in the job posting. If the position requires surgical expertise, the candidate is reminded that many patients at AHS have severe pathology and excellent surgical skills are necessary.
2. The candidate will need cover some ophthalmology call to ensure continuous coverage. Call details can be provided upon request.
3. The candidate will need to cover multiple clinical sites around the county of Alameda, and where they work may change over time as the needs of the Division evolve.
4. We are a teaching hospital, and the candidate must be willing to work with medical students, residents and fellows as necessary. Ideally the candidate would enjoy teaching.
5. An ideal candidate would be invested to quality and process improvement for the Division.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) is required.
Minimum Experience: Completion of an approved residency in an appropriate specialty.
Required: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Ophthalmology
Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.

Pay Rate: $220.64 / Hour
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
