Summary
Works in partnership with the greenhouse team to conduct activities related to planting, cultivating, and harvesting produce both indoors and outdoors. Performs day to day operational tasks such as data collection, record keeping, inventory management, and routine office responsibilities. Displays a high degree of independence, creativity, judgment, critical thinking, focus on safety, and self-direction. Works in partnership with the food insecurity/food access RDN and preventative food pantry coordinator. Assists as needed with tours, special events, and activities. Carries out Parkview's mission in a collaborative way, creating synergy to accomplish community health improvement/wellness goals and building a community environment of overall good health and wellness.
The Parkview Community Greenhouse produce is utilized in nutrition & culinary classes for community members and patients at the Parkview Community Learning Kitchen, medically tailored groceries & urgent food box programs through the Parkview Preventative Food Pantry, at summer farmer’s markets, and donations to local community partners.
40 hours per week
Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 with flexibility to adapt with growing seasons, events, and other food system needs. 2-4 Saturdays per month.
Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent of a GED.
Licensure/Certification: N/A
Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience working with plants is desired. Prior experience with teaching/public speaking preferred.
Other Qualifications: Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Must have knowledge of computer functions including Word, Excel and internet. Must have good data management skills and attention to detail. Must be able to perform routine general maintenance. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
