DEFINITION OF POSITION

The Authorization and Scheduling Verification Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all scheduled hospital tests, procedures, and surgeries are supported by accurate and complete insurance authorizations. This role serves as a critical liaison between outside physician offices, surgical offices, payers, and internal hospital departments to confirm that authorized services match scheduled appointments. The specialist will also independently obtain authorizations for oncology services, surgical supplies, and implants, as well as other tests and procedures as required. This position plays a key role in preventing denials, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting timely patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional

High School graduate or equivalent.

Computer and keyboard skills required: type 30 wpm.

Proficiency in MS Office, PC skills, and Meditech preferred.

Ability to work in a high-volume, deadline-driven office environment.

Experience in insurance verification or medical authorizations required.
