Position Summary
The Sr. Associate, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting independently supports EVgo’s external financial reporting and technical accounting functions across the full quarterly and annual reporting cycle. This role leads the preparation of SEC filings, conducts technical accounting research on complex transactions, coordinates the financial reporting calendar, and ensures compliance with financial reporting internal controls. The position works closely with legal, investor relations, FP&A, and external auditors to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant disclosures.
Responsibilities
SEC Filings & External Reporting:
- Lead the preparation of filing documents including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other SEC filings across all required sections.
- Manage XBRL tagging and EDGAR submission processes; ensure filings are complete, accurate, and submitted on deadline.
- Draft and review disclosures and SEC/US GAAP compliance questionnaires; identify areas of risk and propose appropriate disclosures.
- Develop, maintain, and coordinate the quarterly financial reporting calendar; drive cross-functional coordination to meet all SEC deadlines.
- Coordinate financial reporting relationships with external and internal auditors, including managing timing of documentation requests and monitoring fieldwork progress.
Technical Accounting Research & Application:
- Independently research and document accounting treatment for complex and non-routine transactions including revenue recognition, share-based compensation, EPS calculations, acquisitions, equity, and leases.
- Prepare technical accounting memos that assess multiple interpretations and reach a supportable conclusion under US GAAP.
- Conduct research and implement new accounting pronouncements by working closely with internal teams and external auditors.
- Analyze non-routine transactions and direct the research and documentation of appropriate accounting treatment.
Financial Reporting & Close Coordination:
- Prepare and review financial statements, consolidations, cash flow analyses, balance sheet and income statement analytics, and supporting schedules.
- Coordinate with accounting operations to ensure accurate and timely close deliverables; identify and resolve reporting discrepancies.
- Proactively identify reporting performance challenges and take a leading role in the development and execution of improvements.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting internal controls; maintain control documentation and ensure audit readiness.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors on control testing and evidence requests.
- Provide training and communication of accounting policies to users to ensure consistency of application.
Systems & Analytics:
- Independently analyze financial data across reporting periods; identify variances, trends, and anomalies and develop clear explanations.
- Use reporting platforms including Workiva, NetSuite, and Excel proficiently to produce accurate and well-structured deliverables.
- Proactively drive system, technology, and efficiency initiatives relating to reporting.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of public accounting or SEC reporting experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
- Big 4 accounting experience.
- Experience with Workiva, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
- Equivalent technical education or training in a related field (e.g., certification program, coursework in accounting or finance, or demonstrated on-the-job learning) accepted in lieu of a formal degree.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency with financial reporting and general ledger systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to meet hard SEC filing deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Occasional travel may be required for team or cross-functional meetings.

- Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer discretionary target cash bonuses, restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval), and a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, unbounded paid time off including parental leave, and a 401(k).
