Position Overview:
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the planning and procurement of all assemblies and raw material used in production as well as the shipment of finished goods. The primary objective for this position is to minimize cost through effective procurement, efficient scheduling and disciplined inventory management while meeting customer service requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Timely procurement of all production materials from complex electronic assemblies to shop supplies consumed in the manufacturing process.
- Schedules all material to forecast.
- Active participant in the RMA/reverse logistic process. Knowledge and execution of the repair cycle and inventory control.
- Release production orders to support operations.
- Support a lean supply chain – Kanban, VMI and consignment inventory.
- Maintains accurate source data in SAP – bills of material, item master and other inventory data and purchasing records.Supports accounts payable in the timely reconciliation of supplier payment issues
Qualifications:
- Strong background in ERP/MRP (preferably SAP Business One)
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
- Strong organizational skills and able to work with minimum supervision
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably electronics and metal parts with 2 years in planning function
- Continuous improvement background/training is a plus
Education:
•High School Diploma or GED required
•BS/BA Degree in Business or equivalent education in material management preferred
Physical and Mental Requirements:
·Standing and sitting for extended periods of time,
·Lifting up to 25 pounds in a safe and prudent manner,
·Ability to work and communicate well with other employees and management, customers, visitors, vendors.
·Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands,
·Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, and full use of upper extremities,
·Ability to easily move through an approximately 25,000 square foot warehouse building,
·Ability to read, write, and understand English,
·Correctable vision and hearing.
