Glen Kernan Club is seeking a motivated and service-driven Assistant Tennis Professional to join our Racquets team on a part-time basis. This is a great opportunity for an energetic professional who is passionate about racquet sports and enjoys creating positive, engaging experiences for members of all ages and skill levels.
In this role, you will support the growth of the Club’s tennis and pickleball programs through private instruction, group clinics, and assistance with junior and adult programming. You will also help contribute to racquets events and activities that promote participation, connection, and an active club environment.

Job title: Assistant Tennis Professional
Reports to: Director of Racquets Sports
Classification: Hourly, Full-time or Part-time, Nonexempt
Working Hours: According to work assignment
Job purpose: To assist the Director of Racquets in overseeing daily operations, programming, and management of the Club's racquet facilities, ensuring an exceptional member experience.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assists in all racquet operations, including tennis and pickleball programming, instruction, and daily activities.
- Provides private and group tennis and pickleball instruction.
- Correctly enter all tennis lessons into Jonas.
- Assists with shop responsibilities.
- Performs operational management of court reservations, court assignments, proper control of demo racquets, and ball machine use.
- Assists with telephone calls related to Club activities (ex: USTA, Member events, inner club).
- Ensure proper court usage by monitoring activities, assignments, attire and etiquette.
- Manages and maintains accurate court booking records.
- Assists the Director of Racquets with daily management of courts and overall racquet facility.
- Assists in planning and coordinating racquet events, programs, and member activities.
- Assists in receiving, tagging, and stocking new merchandise.
- Organizes merchandise displays and ensures that they are neat and stocked.
- Assist with merchandise inventory and management of Tennis POS system
- Protect the assets of the Club
- Additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- 1 – 2 years of experience as an Assistant Tennis Professional or providing tennis instruction
- 1 – 2 years of pickleball experience, including both play and instruction
Working conditions
Work is primarily outdoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf and/or tennis balls.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitors and develops subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 50 lbs., up to 30 lbs. frequently and up to 20 lbs. constantly. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 50 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf's Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.
