Buying - Childrens-020874 - Associate Buyer
Enjoy working on-site at Shoe Carnivals corporate office located in Fort Mill, South Carolina! This position will work in the office at 234 Kingsley Park Dr, Fort Mill South Carolina and have the option to work remotely on Friday.
The Associate Buyer is involved in all aspects of the Buying area and assists the Buyer with planning, negotiations, analysis, and strategy.
- Assists the Buyer in classification planning, distribution, and purchasing plans in addition to open-to-buy (OTB) analysis and maintenance.
- Assists in developing Advertising, In-Store Visuals, and Product Flow; monitors for coverage and timeliness.
- Communicates and negotiates effectively with vendors, stores, and office.
- Travels to stores in order to effectively shop both our stores and the competition.
- Analyzes product trends and evaluates reports.
- Identifies and reviews pricing and markdown opportunities to achieve sales/turn/margin desired.
- Executes the mic and cart.
- Reviews product opportunities; communicates with Planners and Merchandisers after vendor meetings.
- Plans and executes backup orders on go-forward product and core product.
- Assists the Buyer in the development and maintenance of Class and Brand Plans/Matrix.
- Works with the Buyers Assistants to keep all orders updated.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years retail Merchandising/Planning in a corporate, multi-store environment preferred.
- Understanding of retail systems, terms, and calculations (e.g. gross margins, open to buy, inventory turn, etc.) required.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong ability to analyze details and data.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to create and present presentations to corporate and store management.
- Availability to work the necessary hours to complete the job and responsibilities in a timely manner.
