AttainX, Inc. is seeking an experienced, customer-focused, and highly organized Information Technology Property Custodian (ITPC) to manage the IT asset inventory for the Air Force Accessions Center (AFAC) and Air Force Recruiting Service (AFRS) Headquarters at JBSA-Randolph. This highly visible position is responsible for maintaining full accountability of government IT assets throughout their lifecycle while providing exceptional customer service to end users. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of balancing inventory management, logistics coordination, and customer support in a dynamic government environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Information Technology Property Custodian and Unit Software License Manager or in a similar equipment management role.Must have 2 years’ experience working within a government agency, understanding government policies and procedures.Demonstrated proficiency in managing IT hardware assets relative to unit manning and maintaining highly accurate inventories with meticulous attention to detail. Fluency in PC-related systems and the Microsoft Office Suite (365).Embody the highest standards of professionalism with a friendly, approachable, and customer-first attitude while adhering to company and client policies on appearance, communication, and conduct. Strict adherence to all Operations Security (OPSEC) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) protection protocols is mandatory. Must possess a favorable Tier 1 (formerly NACI) investigation for IT-Level III access. Must complete and maintain all required DoD/Air Force training (e.g., DoD Cyber Awareness) to ensure continuous access to government networks and systems. Must perform work on-site. Standard core work hours are 0730-1630, Mon-Fri.
Preferred Qualifications
Possess excellent time management and organizational skills with a proven ability to balance back-office administrative duties, hands-on inventory work, and on-demand customer support across multiple facilities.Proven experience in a customer-facing or direct user-support role with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Hands-on experience in submitting, tracking, and tagging hardware asset orders. Ability to physically handle, move, and store IT equipment, including lifting and carrying items of moderate weight on a regular basis.An understanding of the Financial Liability Investigation (FLI) process.Ability to proactively analyze asset utilization to identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities. Ability to identify underutilized assets, forecast needs, and prevent unnecessary spending.Experience with secure shipping and receiving of IT assets via commercial carriers (e.g., FedEx), to include preparing hardware for shipment, tracking, and actively troubleshooting complex issues such as security flags and lost packages to ensure asset recovery.Experience with mobile device carrier enterprise account management.Prior military or DoD environment experience; familiarity with Air Force structure, terminology, and procedures is highly valuable.Prior experience as an Air Force Records Custodian or experience with the Air Force Records Information Management System (AFRIMS). Professional certifications such as Certified Asset Management Professional (CAMP) or Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM).
Key Responsibilities
Customer Support & Personnel Processing:
Serve as the primary, friendly point of contact for all HQ AFRS personnel regarding IT equipment.Directly support members by managing their hardware needs from arrival to departure, including in-processing and out-processing, to ensure a seamless experience.Manage the full lifecycle of IT assets, including acquisition, issuance, transfer, and disposal, in strict accordance with DAFMAN 17-1203, ITAM.
Physical Asset & Inventory Control:
Maintain the master equipment inventory, collaborating closely with government personnel.Conduct 100% accurate annual and out-of-cycle physical inventories, to include performing an annual validation of all telephone numbers and device assignments within the carrier account.Maintain accurate records for government-issued mobile devices within the carrier’s enterprise portal (e.g., Verizon) and ensure device assignments are correctly reflected in the carrier account, including updating end-user names and contact information following any device change.Proactively identify and process excess IT assets for operational spares or disposal through the Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services (DLADS).
Documentation & Compliance:
Prepare and manage all documentation for the full asset lifecycle, from acquisition to disposition (e.g., DAF Form 1297, DD Form 1348-1A, etc.).Prepare and process Financial Liability Investigation (FLI) documents as needed. Maintain and update ITAM documents in the Electronic Records Management (ERM) folder (requiring Records Custodian certification).Adhere to all Air Force-mandated protocols for bar code identification label production and application.
