Position Purpose:
The role of the Lead Medical Assistant (LMA) will assist Supervisor and or Manager in the development, coaching and be a role model for the Medical Assistants of the unit. This is an Individual Contributor role that will report to the Unit Manager. The LMA will ensure that policies and procedures are enforced while ensuring that the unit remains compliant with JCAHO and other regulatory agencies. As directed by the physician or management team LMA will own the process of contacting patients regarding test results and documents it in patient record.
LMA will also function as a staff member to assist as needed within the unit.
Education and Work Experience:
- Medical Assistant Diploma and Medical Assistant Certification require o *(Internal employees ONLY – Unless hired prior to 6/1/2023)
- Preferred 3-5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant. Certified Nurse Assistant will also be considered with similar experience Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding and analytical ability to read and comprehend instructions, add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters
- Requires the ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel.
- Excellent communication skills required in communicating with patients, visitors and/or employees
- Experience Preferred in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems
- Bi-Lingual is a plus Certifications/Licenses:
- Certified Medical Assistant Required
