Adult Day Assistant Director Overview
Assists the Director in overseeing and managing the operational functions of the Adult Services Day Programs. Ensures all program goals are met, all regulatory requirements are followed, and all staff duties are performed in a timely and accurate manner. Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the day programs. Ensures the highest level of care, service and engagement with the participants in the program area as well as identifying appropriate community activities and/or possible employment opportunities. Ensures that a continuous active treatment program is provided for all individuals to best enable them to attain and maintain the highest possible level of skill and independence.
This position ensures services are provided in line with the participant’s Individual Support Plan (ISP), and ensures accurate and timely billing of day program services. The Assistant Director is expected to complete Program Specialist responsibilities as needed. These responsibilities include but are not limited to oversight of the ISP meeting process, request of service authorizations when needed, family communication, and activity planning which include regular and frequent community activities.
The Assistant Director is expected to position provide frequent on-the-floor supervision and to be available as an on-call director during day programming hours.
Schedule and Salary Information
- Monday- Friday 8am-4pm
- Starting Salary with Bachelors: $54,080.00 (+) based on years of experience
- Starting Salary with Masters: $59,488.00 (+) based on years of experience
- Starting Salary with BCBA: $75,000 (+) based on years of experience
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred in human services discipline from an accredited college or university.
- A valid US Driver’s License and minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Capability of attaining approved Melmark driver status.
- Must have one of the following within 9 months of being hired: Hold a Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential from the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE); OR have been awarded a Basic Employment Services Certificate of Achievement or a Professional Certificate of Achievement in Employment Services from an Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) organizational member that has ACRE-approved training.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards for PA’s ODP 2380 regulations, and Chapter 11 Aging regulations.
- A minimum of five (5) years experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is required. A minimum of two (2) years of management experience is also required.
Adult Day Assistant Director Responsibilities
- Provides ongoing direction and guidance to all Adult Day Program Services employees, ensuring that all program requirements, quality standards, and work rules and policies are followed.
- Ensures that designated Program Specialists actively and consistently make rounds to all program areas and observe staff performance, and provide timely, meaningful and appropriate feedback (positive, coaching or corrective as needed).
- Collaborates with Clinical Services and the Program Specialists, on behavioral assessment / intervention development, implementation and compliance of all plans as applicable to include Behavior Support Plans, Teaching Plans, ISP’s, etc.
- Determines and attempts to secure the resources needed to reach identified programmatic goals, including program materials, educational/instructional curricula, training materials and a functional departmental structure, to implement necessary action steps toward program goals
- Prepares for and meets with agencies (local and state) for annual inspections and/or licensing reviews as it relates to Day Services. Ensures that each day program meets applicable (DOA, ODP, DOH, etc) regulatory standards.
- Ensures that other members of the Adult Services Leadership team and other department heads are informed of individuals’ day services activities, needs and problems.
- Communicates regularly with the families and ensures that questions and concerns are addressed in a timely, appropriate and respectful manner.
- Ensures all program progress reports and assessments are mailed to families/guardians in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Works with families, SCOs and treatment team to identify appropriate community activities and job opportunities, and to obtain program variances when applicable.
