About This Role
As an Operating Room RN at NVRH, you will provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care across all phases of the surgical experience—including pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-anesthesia recovery.
This dynamic role requires versatility, as you will serve as a circulator, scrub nurse, and PACU nurse, with opportunities to cross-train and expand your clinical skill set. In our critical access hospital setting, your contributions are highly visible and directly impact patient outcomes.
This position includes participation in the on-call rotation, which requires one night per week and every fourth weekend, and requires readiness to begin a case within 30 minutes when on call.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver perioperative nursing care across all surgical phases, including pre-op preparation, intraoperative care, and PACU recovery
- Function in multiple roles, including circulator, scrub nurse, and PACU RN to support safe and efficient surgical operations
- Ensure patient safety and clinical excellence through adherence to AORN standards, accurate documentation, and participation in surgical safety processes such as time-outs
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, high-quality patient care
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
- Current Vermont or multi-state RN license required
- Minimum of two years of patient care experience required; perioperative or acute care experience preferred
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
- Current ACLS and PALS certifications required; candidates without active certifications may obtain them during the orientation period.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work across multiple perioperative roles, with training available to support skill development
