Assist with surgical patient care in a timely and accurate manner.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education / Training:
High School diploma.
Medical terminology or experience in health care related field preferred.
Workplace Experience:
Peri operative Care
Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently. Standard patient care equipment for services provided. Network computer system, Meditech Computer System.
Physical Environment:
A Surgery Unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nine plus years of age.
Physical Effort:
- Able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
- Able to sit for up to twelve hours a day.
- Able to work at computer station for up to twelve hours.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Schedules cases accurately.
- Communicates changes in schedule to the OR Desk.
- Reviews patient charges, makes inquiries regarding discrepancies or missing charges.
- Enters patient charges accurately and completely.
- Reviews patient documentation, makes inquiries regarding discrepancies or missing documentation.
- Documents accurately and timely and verifies cases.
- Assist in process for tissue tracking according to Joint Commission standards.
- Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications and special assignments.
- Uses critical thinking skills to coordinate activities in the scheduling area, identifies issues and makes recommendations for improvement and efficiency.
- Assist with training of new hires.
- Collaborates with appropriate health care team members to help coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.
- Maintains work environment and organizes unit.
